Wood Floors & Adam's Graduation

I took off work on Friday to have wood (well vinyl wood) floors put in throughout my whole apartment (entry, kitchen, living room, dining room, and bedroom). What a mess!!! Ripping out the tile was ridiculously dusty, so I am STILL cleaning. I have a feeling that I'll be dusting every other day for at least a month (what a pain!).

After a long day... Everything came together. I'm happy with the color and the look of the floor. Dexter & Jeepers seem happy with it as well.

After a long day full of loud noises (from tile being ripped out), dust, and cleaning, I headed over to my Grandma's house for dinner with the family. My Aunt Ricki was intown, so it was great seeing her. Didn't get any photos Friday night. Sunday was my cousin, Adam's, high school graduation. I'm so excited for him as he gets ready to head up to Boston for college, and I'm looking forward to seeing him this Fall when I visit!

After graduation, we headed over to Kata Robata for a fantastic sushi lunch. Kata Robata is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Houston; it has a great atmosphere & fantastic food. Yay, Adam! So excited for you to head off to college!!! Congrats again!

NYC

I had a great weekend in NYC this weekend! I went up on Saturday, and I got home late last night. Saturday, late afternoon, I hit up Soho for some good shopping, then dinner at Ristorante Scalini Fedeli in Tribeca. The food was good, but I think it was over priced for what it was. After dinner we met up with Brittany's friend Rachel & her boyfriend at a Cuban restaurant/bar in Chelsea:

I walked 8-10 miles on Sunday (and as you can imagine, I'm still sore!). Up the river, through West Village (managed to pass on a cupcake from Magnolia's bakery), through the meat packing district (for brunch at Pastis- AMAZING), to Fifth Avenue to meet up with Brittany for shopping. We shopped for 4 hours, hitting up all of the big department stores. While we were talking around, we saw the Smurf's movie being filmed:

After shopping, Kevin took me to Central Park (not for long though, as I was sore & exhausted & hungry). Then we headed over to a fantastic Indian food restaurant for dinner.

Unfortunately, I woke up at the crack of dawn on Monday, so the walking started at 7:45 a.m. ...Down the river, through Battery Park City, through the Financial District/Wall Street, to Chinatown, through Little Italy, and winding up in Soho at the big Dean & Deluca.

We had a ridiculously early lunch at Sunshine 27 in Chinatown. It's a dim sun restaurant, and it was INCREDIBLE. The restaurant has lots of large tables, where they seat you based on space at the table. So there were 2 of us, and we were seated at a table that had 5 other people already there. The waiter gives you a ticket, and servers come around to your table with carts where you point and choose what you want to eat (and they stamp your ticket). It was the best meal that I had in NYC.

It was great to get home and see my babies (Jeepers & Dexter), but I can't wait to go back! I miss that city already!

Last Weekend

We kicked off the weekend with HORRIBLE weather (tons of rain), so we stayed in Friday night and caught up on laundry. Saturday was rainy again with a work out class, Costco, and going out. I had a great dinner with a girlfriend at Max & Julie's. Then, Lisa invited me to Vintage to see rapper, Lil Flip. We had a great time! You can't really see Lil Flip very well below because we were camped out in a corner below a fan because it was so hot.

Sunday, Brittany and I were supposed to go the Cardiac Cup (big polo match). Unfortunately, due to the heavy Friday/Saturday rain, the match was cancelled. So, we decided to go to Cyclone Anaya's and have a drink on their patio. Can't wait to see her next month when I visit her in NYC!

Week In Review

Last week was VERY hectic (but great). It started out with a fantastic dinner for the Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) honoring and awarding the LBJ Moral Courage recipient, John Prendergast. He was a wonderful speaker with a great cause; he's trying to end genocide in Africa. He has such a genuine passion for his cause; I was very impressed with him. My grandmother was so kind to include me and my parents at her table. Here are some photos:

In addition to the HMH dinner, Brittany is back in town visiting for a couple of weeks, and we had our big Mother's Day celebration... It has been fantastic spending so much time with family and friends.

Past Several Weeks...

I am so sorry! I haven't updated in weeks... Things have been so hectic with family, bridal showers and my animals.

A couple of weeks ago my cousin (well Dad's cousin), Norm, came intown. He lives in Canada, and he spends a couple of weeks a month in Houston with his dad. Norm has such a positive attitude about life; it's always a pleasure to spend time with him. We had a fantastic dinner at Backstreet Cafe, and I look forward to seeing him again- hopefully next month.



Last weekend, I went to Farin's bridal shower luncheon. I was seated at a hilarious table with a really great group of girls. Her future cousin-in-law (who is VERY creative and talented) pulled the center pieces together. Each table had a different theme, and most of the pieces in each centerpiece were things that Farin had registered for. I was so impressed that I took some pictures to share:

Now... to get up to date... I spent this weekend running errands (like always), cleaning (like always), and hanging out with friends. I did however bake a challah. I was given my great grandmother's challah bowl, so it was a really neat experience to use it and think about how she was making challah in it 100 years ago. This is how it turned out:

Weekend Review

We had Friday off last weekend, which was AMAZING. I was able to get all wedding/shower gifts purchased, run errands, clean and go to the grocery store.

On Easter Sunday, I took Jeepers to an adorable Easter egg hunt at Sasha's Suds N Duds. It was PRECIOUS!

Although Jeepers didn't get anything, we had a blast, and she had her picture taken by Cara Dubcak. Cara is really talented- http://www.caradubcak.com/; she photographs weddings, events, and dogs. I'm going to hire her to do a session for Jeepers & Dexter.
